The Starting Line's "Surprise, Surprise" Demo track. The lyrics towards the end of the song are a little bit different then the version on BOATS. (yes, i know the time on the video says the video is 6 some odd minutes. don't worry. the video is only like 3-4 minutes)

Geffen was the label they were under (still might be)

He is upset because it's most likely that they had them change the lyrics. This version sounds much better has more meaning, and fits the title better. I was hoping the live version would be like the demo but unfortunately it wasn't :(

Also I recommend checking out Based on a True Story first before Say it Like you Mean It. Although the Say It Like you Mean it is Better I enjoyed listening to Based on a True Story First.

@Videodude132 they're now under Virgin Records and have been for about the past 3 years now. That's really not the reason why they didn't like Geffen. Geffen pretty much told them to go out and make Say It Like You Mean It part 2. The Starting Line obviously didn't wanna do that, so when they finally did put out Based On A True Story, Geffen pretty did nothing with it.

Based On A True Story was overall better, but Say It Like You Mean it had some solid, solid tracks on it. These guys definitely matured as songwriters.

@SignedAndDelivered Geffen was The Starting Line's label for all of Based on a True Story. It wasn't until about a year after BOATS came out that the starting line parted ways with Geffen.
