This and the Civil War series by Ken Burns are, by far, the greatest creations for either television or the big screen . . . masterpieces in their own right . . . and I don't know which I like better! I suppose each has it's own place for me. Absolutely perfect!

This will forever change the way I say the Pledge of Allegiance

Freedom is Never free. RIP to all those who gave it all <3

@Liface It may not have the words referred to our brave soldiers, but it is the proud symbol of those who lost some, and those who lost all, so that you can trample on their pride saying that that pledge is nothing but words.
-
@Liface Its pitiful that you think this. Who's blood was spilt to ensure the flight of the stars and stripes? Who's limbs were lost, to allow others to have the freedom to work and be themselves today? Who's faith was tested, so that others may practice it freely here? Who's security was broken, so that others may feel secure in their own home? These men, these few lucky men, were the brothers, saying the pledge of allegiance is a remembrance to those lost. For all gave some, and some gave all.

@tompd9 The pledge of allegiance has nothing to do with respecting soldiers. If you want to respect soldiers, you can do that on your own time. No one should be forced or expected to respect our soldiers and support war in school.

This kind of thing of thing makes me outraged at kids in my grade. They say pledge of alligance like they don't care at all. People like Joe toy sacrificed themselves for this country and they cant give them 30 seconds of respect....pitiful..

Simply amazing. The sacrifice these men gave for this great country.
I only have one thing to say, R.I.P to ALL who died, and THANK YOU for our FREEDOM!

everytime i watch these series I think about this quote.
It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial. thank you so much, you`ll be hero`s forever
