A demo of some of the factory combi presets in the Korg M3 synthesizer / workstation. NOTE: The lights on the M3 do not flash - they just appear to do so in the video.

  • If you would want to mix it up with software synths and use a hardware synth live, which synth would you pick or which would you suggest for someone who wants to do exactly that?

  • @MrVeluMusic That would depend greatly upon what sort of music i was playing, and what kind of sounds I needed to utilize during the show. I have never used software instruments "live" - if I played in a band again I would likely get a couple of lightweight keyboards - a Yamaha MO6 for pianos/organs/strings/pads/bells/winds/brass and a Roland Gaia for synth leads, basses, effects, etc.

  • @keybdwizrd

Thanks. I was considering the Gaia myself.

I'm playing electronic music mostly, high distortion, and heavy bass.

Well I'm gonna actually get Ableton live that let's you loop clips and launch them at will, but still a synth live would really make a show.

So you'd go with light synths that are easy to carry around, good idea, :/ equipment bulkyness is always a factor.

What synths would you suggest for beginners in my line of heavy electronica?

  • @MrVeluMusic The Access Virus instruments have always been popular for that genre. Also check out the Nord Lead and Korg Radias. If you have the money, look at an analog synth for bass (Moog LP or Voyager). Dave Smith analogs are a more affordable option.

  • Wow I never imagined that you could do so much with the XY screen. (Referring to the first combi.) Nice demonstration. You play very well.

  • @Samixelo Thanks. I am just learning how to use this thing myself.
