@helix30 My man and just how dare you 4get the main man KABILA KABANZE "EVANI" ? He's the lead vocalist in 99% of their songs and the current Mangelepa band leader. Also add Kasongo Fundi the drummer boy
@xmasxray Obala was a footballer extraordinaire. He played possibly number 6 (linkman)...with Paddy, Willie , Obura Maugo and Obonyo "Koko" plus our goalie "Amina". He was mostly "feared" and loved just a little. No form 2 or mono dared cross his path. Remember he was also the games captain and was part of the liveliest lot at Ambish Free State. Back then it was optional to sit in class or go listen to Mazembe songs in the Dorm during class hours. Yes, students carried record players to school.
Because I have been based in Germany since 1979, I heard about Obara during one of my holidays in Kenya. You can contact Hanningtone Gaya Consulting in Nairobi. Hanningtone could guide you to the sister of Obara in Nairobi for further details. what I know is that it was in the mid 90's.
I am sorry to hear that Obara passed away.Obara Mangla was the Games Captain when I joined Ambira . He was an excellent soccer player and very much respected. He managed to juggled the Ambira bad boy image and also be very serious with the school staff. He was fun to be around as most of his friends can attest. When did he pass away?
