An integral part of my near future plan includes my landing at the Dilolog airport. Therefore, I watch this particular video as a motivational tool. I have "virtually" arrived on Mindanao more times than I can count, and each viewing deepens my inspiration to fulfill the series of daily tasks that will manifest my goal.
Thanks, Polotokoto, for posting this particular video.

What a fantastic and stunning video of the approach to DPL. I remember very well my first trip to Dipolog in 2006 and remarked to myself upon landing the beauty of the Sulu Sea and the northern tip of Zanorte.

I would like to give a history of Dipolog airfield as it was called then.. Governor Matias Castillon Ranillo noticed the choppy waters at Punta Coro and so he was determined to established the airfield during his administration. In 1941, he was the lone assemblyman of Zamboanga penisula. In 1944 at the request of the guerillas, he mobilized the abled men of Dipolog to clear the landing field. It was this landing field where the first American invasion landed to free Zamboanga peninsula.

i went to dipolog in may 2009, and found it quite scary landing 20 metres from the sea
wow thanks for the info... that is very interesting, it is always nice to know the history of the field you land in

Great 02 approach at DPL. I've seen already a 25 knots crosswind landing on same spot and it sure did flip the 737-4S3 aircraft registered EI-CVO on the threshold area but the captain managed to land it safely 100 meters further from the distance marker and way off the centerline too on a thin strip. Thats one hell of a pilot move. Its a good thing its wider now. This video showed off-centerline landing too. Crosswind factor?
Show us also the 20 VFR approach if you have time. Thanks for sharing.
