@lithaine Gold robes are honor God. If you go to a dinner party - you would dress nice and respectable to honor your host. Icons: Old Testament - God hadn't taken human form so no one could depict him. After The Incarnation as Jesus he could then be depicted. Icons are a honored not worshipped. St. Luke the Evangelist created the first icon. Sometimes truth is not so much as moving a mountain but changing one's mind. Mud or gold- it is all intention - what would you like to receive as a gift?

first off, the apostles wouldnt have had gold or fancy robes, jesus said to go with just your clothes on your back basicly, they also never had icons, if your church is true, move a mountain, then ill believe you. also gold means little, its just an ore, i doubt god cares if it was made of mud.

Orthodoxy is predenominationalism, and there are reasons for everything in the Orthodox Faith...for one, Orthodox is based on temple worship, and synagogue worship, which is why our services are liturgical. We are the bride of Christ, so our churches reflect the splendor of a bride. The gold represents the Glory of God. Orthodox do not have statues, but we have icons. We are the true church that has not changed since the Apostles. No other church has the Holy Fire. Why is that?

orthdox christianity is an offshoot of catholicism, both of wich, are distortions of christianity, not saying protestants in many forms arent either. first off, where did they get that they should have statues, pictures, gold all over the place, fancy robes and jewelry, and all that? has nothing to do with christianity.

Orthodox Church is also Catholic, and many of our churches, Jerusalem, Antioch and some Greek churches were started by Peter. Yes, we trace to Peter also. He is not only for the Roman Church.

The holy light comes only when Orthodox people pray. Catholics tried to obtain the light, but it never came to them. Only to the Orthodox people. San Peter wasn't catholic. The Catholic Church was founded 1000 years after the birth of Christ. Until Western Europe decided to make it's own church, there was only the Orthodox Church on earth.

True because the Orthodox churchs were built by JESUS GOSPEL, you have the Assyrian were built by saint peter the creater of it, and you have the COPTIC by saint mark, and it follow to the other orthodox church because they all are built by holly people not by human like the false church named CATHOLIC big name but false i agree with you on this (:
