'A Pilgrim's Way: A Search in Sacred Romania' (PART 2 / 8)

A film by Mironel de Wilde

SYNOPSIS:

'On a journey in search of faith and the truth of my heart, I go on a pilgrimage from Canada to Romania, Eastern Europe, to visit the world of Orthodox Christianity, to ask questions about the roots of our religious and philosophical heritage and find out if Christianity still has a living spiritual dimension.

The journey takes me to Bucharest to meet people with spiritual insights into the meaning of Christ's teachings. I go to Putna Monastery, near the Ukrainian border for immersion into monastic life, then on to visit some of the greatest elders of the church and I hear first hand where the Christian path can lead me.'

Written and directed by Mironel de Wilde

  • We know statistically that Evolution is the cause of atheism.

  • @graypj, I think your statement assumes truth cannot be known. What you say would only have validity if no one indeed was in possession of the full truth. Since Orthodoxy is the criterion of truth, she has the right to make these kind of judgments.

  • @Pilgrim1411 some thinkers in the east are as judgmental and intolerant as those in the west. Why focus on putting others down for their interpretation of the how of Christ's redemption when the important thing is the Redemption. For many today the expiatory, juridical explanation is a stumbling block so I sympathize w those who use other models but it seems prideful to scorn others to whom it is still a powerful symbol.

  • nice mowing at the end there

  • Jesus' death was expiatory.
