A Christmas All Decked Out - JJ18 - Orchard Road Nov '09

I have always admired the Singaporean enthusiasm to celebrate all religious festivities as and when they come. A society harbouring over a hundred faiths living side by side without significant tensions for so many years this comes with the spirit of location, and there still is genuine mutual respect for each other, even so it wears a little thinner nowadays, compared to the earlier days of my life here in the the seventies. But foremost Singaporeans are pragmatic, and take in any "official holiday" they can get and dispense with sentimentalities and replace it with shopping. Shopping has become synonymous with celebrating and having fun.
So, why not start up Christmas lights at the beginning of November and turn on an extended shopping fun fair, seamless lasting till Chinese New Year days in February -- Sponsored by the Tourist Promotion Board. Last Saturday night was start up, yes, a light up officiated by the President. My ride down Orchard road was on Sunday night, so were the radio and music clips .

i was planning video record the light-up. but since you have done such an excellent job with your helmet cam i shall not try to outdo yours.cos yours is more exciting as it gives a clear view or the scenery.thank you for th video. :-)
