  • Very informative.. Helps a lot thanks bro.. BTW, can you give me some recommendations for some good guides that I can get, I'm new to linux/Ubuntu and I'd like to learn basics to advance topics on it.. Thanks!

  • @xBlankz025 - For Ubuntu, try to buy a resource book online or in big book stores. All stuff here I just read in an Ubuntu book. The basics and command lines are all there already.

  • @BugsVHumans - Thanks bro..BTW, what specific book would you recommend? coz there's a lot of books that are really confusing..

  • @xBlankz025 - I used Ubuntu Unleashed 7.04 Sams Publishing House, it's quite old, but it's still useful, I still refer to it every now and then. But if you want you can also print online.

It really depends on what you want to learn, in my opinion, they're all good, just look at the table of contents before buying. If you think you're gonna need to things in the book then you should go for it. Buy a used book as they're cheaper. :)

  • @lordofsraam - hey, what do you mean if the server wont recognize the second nic, is it broken? not installed with drivers & modules? not compatible? not supported? What OS are you using?

  • why did you make the DNS name server the IP of the router?

  • @mhartley2008 - Yes, basically, the DNS name server is the one that resolves the numerical 289.25.13.1 to alphabetical youtube dot com.

You can specify a public DNS name server if you want, like OpenDNS.

  • @BugsVHumans Thanks a lot bro.. I happend to find some good resources on the net and I think I'll just stick with it, I'd like to learn more with the CLI, like moving around using the CLI only. Anyway, just like to ask also if you have any idea on how can I hide my network workstations, like creating a proxy that could hide the devices that are connected beneath it. Thanks.

  • does anybody have any idea what to do if the server wont recognize the second nic?

  • @War3Hog101 - What do you mean? The IP inside your network (LAN) or outside your network (WAN)?
