The lack of SD card and just a 16GB memory on the Nexus 4 shows that Google are pushing users to use cloud services especially Google Drive.

i got 2 ways of expanding non expandable memory phone.

    1)cloud storage

2)connect a thumb drive, i mean a very little thumb drive to the phone.

i like the SD slot for one reason. if your phone is damaged you can just remove the sd card to save your photos/music/etc instead of plugging in a cable. last week my son throw my phone into the toilet. phone is no longer working but i was able to remove the SD card and save all the photos and vids. i just ordered my nexus 4 and wished it had the slot. i also never removed the SD card but still wish they had it.

I have the nexus 4 and nexus 7 and purchased an Air stash. With a 64 gig SD card that streams my media between both via WiFi.

8 gigs for me is enough so this wasn't a deal breaker at all , but I'm not a multimedia guy .

so... when I had my galaxy nexus (on verizon, sadly) I had 32GB of on board memory. but for the 14 months I've been using the phone I've only used up a total 4.6 GB. that's including everything from pictures, to recorded videos and apps, etc. plus there's Google drive and cloud storage and dropbox for when I wanna send stuff back and forth to my server at home and/or external HD at home whenever I wanna clear up my phone. so 16GB is no problem, I can work with it lol

I came to android because I wanted something other than iPhone. I didn't want that guarded garden environment, I wanted the experience I'd had in the past, doing whatever I want and accepting the consequences.

    My feelings on this.

    1) Android wasn't intended for ppl who have their tech problems solved when asked "is it plugged in?". It's not that hard.

    2) Data is expensive and I want access to my stuff when I'm flying.

    3) This lack of features is apple-esque. What happened to don't be evil?
