AEON Apartment Walkthrough

Walkthrough of an AEON apartment. Apartments are never the same and can be drastically different in terms of size and amenities. I got fairly lucky with this apartment. Usually the closer you are to Tokyo central, the smaller the apartment becomes!

Where do AEON teachers get placed to teach in Japan?

After the personal interview, if they want you they will offer you a position. Some teachers are offered a specific position immediatley, others have to wait to be placed. You can give them preferences for where you would like to work, but ultimately it depends on what positions are available (the current teachers who are not renewing their contract). I wanted to work in Tokyo, but being placed ASAP was more important to me. I got lucky when a Tokyo position opened up.

I really hope my apartment looks like this one. I've seen some really, really small apartments in Japan, and this one looks really large.

Bathroom and shower are frequently separate in Japanese apartments. One of the few Japanese apartments I've been in that had the toilet and the shower in the same room was incredibly cramped and the toilet folded underneath the shower when not in use.

Looks nice and cozy. I wouldn't mind living in one of those.
