From out of 1978 comes: The 1988 All Star Wrestling Opening & Closing Credits.

What was the deal with Verne Gagne & the 1970s? This TV Show Opening was from 1988 listening to the Disco Music and chessy Laser Beam fire effects the time period this episode should have first aired was in 1978. The opening & Closing credits are so reminiscent of an Atari 2600 Outer Space Game Cartridge from 10 years prior. This promotion appeared to be about 10 years behind the present date. Verne Gagne, The Rip Van Winkle of Pro Wrestling. The Tag Team Champions should have been Big Foot & Wild Boy.

This was 1988 Hogan, The Road Warriors, Hansen, Broady &Superfly were all gone. This would be the last year of The Midnight Rockers by this Time IT WAS BROKE & Needed Fixing!

Does anyone know what song this was? I have heard it many times somewhere and can't find the name. Also, Verne's All Star Wrestling..there will never be anything like it again. It was the best.

Vern was a definite believer in the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mantra. But the AWA was a very regional promotion by that point, largely centered in the upper midwest, and change comes slower when your just beneath the national spotlight. No question the WWF was the big show by then...
