it looks like yall put your water ice on backwards the black strip is so posed to go at the top it may vary from product to product but on my bp water ice it goes at the top

@roofhospital No, it's better if it's on top. that way if there's ever a shingle blown off, the tar paper will still carry the water into the eave trough and not behind the metal fascia and rot the wood fascia like I've seen many times. Also about the wind driving under the shingles, that's what the Ice & Water Shield is for, it'll stick the the drip edge.

we use to just use regular shingles for the cap i like thoses never seen em befor but looks easy to use..and we always use iceblock

on a gable, do u put the paper over the d-edge or under?

It's definately a great looking and easy to install ridge cap. Malarkey has a version called EZ ridge also, same style and installation method. I'm pretty well staffed at the moment, but feel free to leave me some contact info whenever so I have it on file for future use. All the best with your move out here.

You want the paper under the drip edge. The concept for this is: driving/horizontal rain hitting the gable is to run off the metal onto the underlayment. If the paper is over the metal then driving rain would potentially slip in under the metal and hit the plywood. In this roofing video the paper was at the time overtop the metal, this was corrected before shingles were applied.
