Welcome everyone to the Month of Machinima (MoM) festival!
I'm so happy we are finally here with our first event
sponsored by the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA).
The LEA exists to help encourage and cultivate art and artists within Second Life,
to foster community, creativity, and innovation among artists,
and collaborate with existing art galleries and groups
to help nurture their valuable participation in the SL arts.
We have been thinking hard about what kinds of things we can do
to accomplish those goals, and we'd love to get your feedback.
The LEA Committee members are always willing to listen to your thoughts and ideas.

Now that we have launched this awesome MoM festival today,
I 'd like to give you a taste of what's coming next!
One of the things that will keep us very busy is a series of ongoing exhibits by SL artists.
They will range widely in size, theme, and time.
We have about three sims that will be hosting various exhibits
that will be updated on an ongoing basis.
We are currently working on an application process
for artists to apply for space to exhibit their art on an appropriate LEA region.
We will be opening up applications and announcing that soon, so stay tuned.
We also plan on opening the LEA Art Sandbox soon,
and roughly a month from now, Bryn Oh's Avatar Games,
which I promise you will be some crazy fun for everyone involved.
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmV8HWJ53T8 for more info and a preview!
Our plans for the future include some great things -
a welcome center with information about the arts in SL
and educational materials for aspiring artists,
a full region for Architectural arts,
another full region dedicated full-time to Machinima,
the Art Sandbox to help build community and encourage creativity and collaboration,
and we will be starting an Artist in Residence program for some deserving artists
with plenty of land to experiment on.
We also plan to build an education center, perfect for hosting lectures,
classes, and discussions related to SL art.
We also have one region allocated to adult art, so the good stuff won't be left out! :)
