I agree totally that without religion, we would be centuries ahead by now,; but I know a lot of history, and the ancient world, with its science and philosophy was already in decline bythe 200s AD. But religion was such a RETARDANT to free thought, for over a 1,000 years!!! It's hard to imagine what suchUTTER CONTROL of the MIND it had in the middle ages and early modern era it had!!! At least the ancient pagan religions didn't get in the way of science and free thought.

@Appclypse Be weary of anybody or any group that goes around using what THEY say is what other people believe, as justification to harmful actions. I hear allot of right winged talk where what they are telling the audience, instead of talking about facts and figures, they talk about what the 'jihadists', or the 'liberals' believe or hate. They don't hate our freedom, They hate what we have done over there. Liberals didn't WANT to see GOP policy not work. That's them telling us what to think.

I think the point he is trying to make is that if we did not have things like religion and government and wars holding us back from our potential, imagine where we could be today if instead we worked on making things better for mankind (and not for corporate profit). If accurate, I agree with the sentiment however we humans fight regardless. I think we could have been very spiritual just contemplating the gift of being alive and learning all we could about the universe. Lets all hope for peace

Yeah, blame religion for all the bloodshed.

Nice speech, but what you have shown is not the Antikythera mechanism according to Wikipedia.
If there weren't religious wars, there would have been political wars all the same because PEOPLE CAN'T AGREE.

@DigitalSpooker That isn't, the Antikythera mechanism is not "clean", it's a lump of hard rock and rust, it's only been discovered how it works by x-ray
