Boneyard Prayer explores struggle, sorrow, and salvation, drawing from such varied sources as William Kennedys Ironweed, Dantes Inferno, T.S. Eliots The Hollow Men, tramp art, Santos sculpture, and other period literature, music, and art. Boneyard Prayer tells a Depression-era tale of one mans fractured life and ultimate redemption using various forms of puppetry and shadow images, along with extraordinary music inspired by the songs of the age.
Conceived and directed by Frank Maugeri, with original music by Charles Kim. Text and lyrics by Seth Bockley.
Saw this! And so glad I did.
A dark reflection on a man's life and decisions
compelling use of the medium
striking, memorable music
puppets, dirt, and projection to die for
and the cast is stellar, powerful, and focused
the theatrical conventions used are consistant, clear, and breathtaking
I came out of this show having had created a new, indelible memory location if that makes any sense. hearing the music and seeing the images brings me back in a really almost tangible way
