String test number three on my ZCW qin of the new silk-nylon strings, remounted, stable and tuned to standard pitch (i.e. 5th string = A).
Melody: Qiu Shui
Strings available from here: http://www.chineseculture.net/musicmall/instruments/htmls/guqin/naganewsilkst...
NB: it has come to my attention that the strings are not made of silk at all and that they are made from nylon. Therefore, the designation of 'silk-nylon' is now incorrect and it shall henceforth be known as 'nylon'. There is silk in there but only in the wrapping ends which do not have any effect on the sound anyway.
these tests show silk sounds better, but it is difficult to tell.
expensive recording equipment will probably show that silk sounds much better than metal
