reality said it just happened (some looked at it as a curse, or judgment, etc..)

reality changed through science, peered reviewed reproducible evidence found vaccines could shield a person.

reality caused the purpose and meaning of these diseases to change

culture change (vaccinations)

problem solved (most eradicated or incredibly decreased).
