I found this all pretty interesting, but could you really not be bothered to turn off the TV (or radio or whatever) that is blaring in the background the whole time?

@TheOuthouseMouse Hi, I'm thinking about joining the peace corps. I'm a combat medic for the U.S Army and after my enlistment is up I'm going to head to college to get my bachelors in nursing(only 2 years for me). I know it's really competitive to join the peace corps but I would like to try applying. I was wondering if theres anything I could do to higher my chances of getting accepted? Hopefully I'll be able to do volunteer work and internships while in college

back in the 70's guy I knew joined the peace corps, they sent him to some dangerous south american craphole, the natives stole everything he had, he came home after a couple months, said he was lucky to have gotten out alive, didn't have a Disney cartoon view of the world anymore.

@Adeptmind It's a bit of a long story... I started getting worried about being able to find a job when I got back along with a host of other things. Long story short, conditions were right at that moment for me to go home early.

@TatankaOhitika1 It really depends on where you will be stationed and what you plan to do when you're there. I was in Eastern Europe, so the conditions were a bit better than I would expect in, say, Africa. When you speak with your recruiter, they will be more than happy to talk about all of these things ans answer any questions that you may have. You shouldn't feel foolish about not knowing.
im thinkin about joining...what languages would u recament to learn?

@ArcticW01F A mastery of English should be a good start. After that, it just depends on the region where you want to be stationed.

What about method of entry ? Im signing up in two months , and was wondering what method do they use to place you in a country . And also , what about what they are looking for in a person for the Peace Corps ? I have been teaching and practicing primitve living and self-reliance skills for over 6 years and was wondering if that could play a role in me being accepted ? Thanks

@TatankaOhitika1 It just depends on what you want to do. When you sit down with a recruiter and discuss all of these questions and your concerns, you should be a lot more at ease about what you will be doing and where.
