I need help going all out! I've been doing freelance work for over a year but I feel like I keep getting taken advantage of and underestimated. Any other videos that help out with that?

@Neobriant & @InternetAesHole. i agree, with both comments. the fact is, most students get into Graphic design and believe there is no real "work" required to be a professional. and also, they aren't prepared or have the experience the manage a design position that pays an expensive salary.
the fact is, irregardless of college, you need to be dedicated and you have be patient. being a designer and artist, they require lifetime commitments period.
and most, cannot do that.

@amazier People need to get their heads out of the clouds. I agree with you...never will there be a shortage of graphic design needs as long as mankind is still on this planet. What they don't realize is all the design work that goes in to applications for your phone and games, advertisements, logos, posters, business cards, greeting cards, billboards, icons, websites, marketing, cd albums, dvd covers...there is no end

@rukus100821 College has actually helped me with my designs. I don't know exactly where people are getting the idea that they only give out degrees. I am taking several studio art classes and art histories for my graphic design major. I never understood why I had to take those since my place was on the computer and Photoshop. Now I realize all the skills those classes have really taught me. I understand a lot more of what works and what doesn't now

@TheDesignHarvester started my own business and am finding clients and advertising on Youtube...posting video responses like crazy to get my name out. I'm not even out of my teens yet and I have people asking me left and right to make logos for them or design business cards or greeting cards. It's pretty awesome being where I am at for so long. I don't want to work for myself but I couldn't even find a job at Walmart in this economy. That's why I have this business today :)

@alvarez4500 Your comment is very true. I am a design student right now. I see students, like myself, who have been working with Photoshop and Paintshop designing things since they were in middle school and I have also seen students who want to become a graphic designer who have never touched Photoshop. It all comes down to how much time you spend working with designs and actually experimenting with different things. I'm never afraid to experiment with things...I have actually just...

@alvarez4500 finally some1 gets me

so just because a community college teaches the degree how do you as a graphic designer purify or make your designs stand out?

How much money do you earn per week?

Hi everyone!
I'm a college student who has been very interested in Graphic Design. Do any of you think that with an AAS in Graphic Design will help me land a job somewhere? I've been paying for my education and it has been tough, but would like to know for the fact that my college offers this degree.

as long as you dedicate yourself to being the best at what you do, you'll be successful. it's with anything you do...but especially as an artist.

If there is anyone who is really aspiring to be a PROFESSIONAL graphic designer and make a living, don't listen to these garbage comments. These people are the fodder that don't usually make it out of the pack because they are hobbyists. You can tell the real designers like the guy in Germany, Canada and who ever said get 50% upfront (especially from new clients).
Art and design are different and every application doesn't call for an "artsy" solution. You don't have to re-create the wheel.
