On April 6, Congressman Kanjorski and Sallie Mae CEO Al Lord appeared on CNBC's Squawk Box to announce that Sallie Mae will create 2,000 jobs, including 600 jobs at its facility in the Wilkes-Barre area in Pennsylvania, by returning its overseas operations to the U.S. This announcement will almost double the number of employees at Sallie Mae in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
