the mechanics of those days their mentality was failer was not a option, todays mechanics mentality I can't do. to hard, I want my mama.

Thats just BS.
Sure, some places offers second to none service, but that doesnt mean that everyone does.
And you need to consider that those guys were probably getting more than the average mech payment, and replacing a rude/lazy mech wouldnt be a huge problem, or loss for the team.
