Pronouns are words that replace nouns to make the sentence simpler. Antecedents are the nouns that are replaced by pronouns. Pronouns and antecedents must agree in person (first person, second person, and third person) as well as in number (singular, plural). Also, pronouns must match their antecedents with gender when dealing with people.

Let's take a look at an example.

"The doctors completed their rounds."

Doctors is a plural noun and there is a plural pronoun. The sentence is correct.

Let's take a look at another example.

"Jill finished her pizza."

Jill is a singular female noun and her is a singular female pronoun. The sentence again is correct.
