WAREHAM, MA- 5 Children & Two Adults Injured in Double Rollover Accident- Rt 25 (03-13-10)

WAREHAM Two children were seriously hurt and five others, including three juveniles, sustained minor injuries after a two-car rollover on Route 25, state police said.

An 11-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl were taken to Children's Hospital in Boston following the crash, which occurred at 11:15 a.m. on Route 25 westbound, east of Route 195 in Wareham, police said.

The other children, two boys ages 7 and 4 and a 1-year-old baby girl, were taken to Tobey Hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation by state police in Bourne indicates Daylene Tropeano, 41, of Buzzards Bay, was driving the five children in a 1999 GMC Suburban in the center lane when Louise Houle, 66, of Falmouth, drove her 1999 Toyota Avalon into the rear of Tropeano's car.

The collision caused both vehicles to roll over, with the Suburban landing on the driver's side in the median while the Toyota came to rest on its roof in the breakdown lane, state police said.

It is the policy of the state police to not identify juvenile victims, and police would not confirm whether the children were Tropeano's.

The crash is under investigation by the state police and a crash reconstruction team worked for more than an hour investigating the cause of the crash.
Traffic on Route 25 west was limited to one lane for nearly three hours after the crash, causing significant back-ups.
