"Plimer argues that volcanic eruptions release more CO2 than human activity; in particular that submarine volcanoes emit huge amounts of CO2.The US Geological Survey has calculated that human emissions of CO2 are about 130 times larger than volcanic emissions, including submarine emissions. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) stated that Plimer's claim "has no factual basis." If he cant get a simple fact right & wont correct it, what point is there to the rest of his claims?

@Darthbelal HA HA HAAAAA.. GOOD CALL! He must be recording this after dinner, while the wife is in the kitchen washing up the dishes.. she probably has alot of dishes to clean.. as he seems to dribble a lot of crap!
-
who the hell is washing dishes in the background???

Refreshing change to the tiresome fear mongering we're so conditioned to. Well done ol' boy!

@robhoneycutt Sorry, my mistake. I entirely agree about Plimer by the way. In a recent television interview in Australia he was asked no less than five times for references for some of the claims he makes in his book, including his belief that volcanoes create more co2 than human activity. He ducked & dodged or changed the subject but was of course unable to supply any.

@MrHempenhomespun I don't think you understand what I'm referring to. Solar variation has been stable the latter half of the 20th century, as you say, but all stars get hotter over the long term as they convert hydrogen to helium. As the hydrogen slowly gets burned away stars become hotter and hotter, as has ours.

@robhoneycutt If you consult the Max Planck Institute you will find that the sun's output has remained static since 1940.

Okay, in the first 2 minutes of this video he completely disregards the fact that the sun's output is increasing over that time period. It's a good thing that CO2 has been decreasing because if it weren't nothing could live on this planet. See a paper by Royer (2006) titled CO2-forced climate thresholds during the Phanerozoic.
.
Already, how can we trust what this guy is saying when he's omitting such important parts of the data.
The important thing to realise is Plimer is being a true scientist, questioning and challenging the popular theories. It doesn't really matter whether people agree OR disagree. He is contributing to science!
Furthermore, he is an amazing and effective lecturer. I am proud to have been in his 1st year geology course. (This particular presentation does not do him justice)

oh? and who exactly is trying to obtain a sustainable future? The world leaders? the policy makers? the banks? the IMF or the EU? Get fucked, they only care about power and money, name once instance in history where the concerns of the people are prioritized?
