You know an even better cooling solution is to take and modify some water cooling blocks so that they fit and then hook those up instead of returning to the stock heatsinks. The hoses can run right out the side opposite from the HDD

The only permanant fix to a RROD or YLOD is to have the CPU and GPU on the motherboard reballed. Don't have your system reflowed, or do the towel trick, or penny trick, or whatever else is out there. If by luck it did fix your console, it's only temporary and doing even more damage to your console. The other folks commenting wouldn't have watched it if they knew how to repair the xbox. The people who came up with the technology were born in the 40s, 50s & 60s. If that makes them old, so be it. "old" people and xbox 360s come as a package. Makes young people brainless cattle! Hopefully they'll turn it around one day.
