  • I'm sorry, that's not how a shotgun works. It doesn't pick up sounds from very far away. When you're mentioning the sporting event...you're talking about a parabolic microphone. The dish itself is what reflects the sound into the mic. A shotgun is just extremely directional, rejecting sound from the sides and rear of the mic. But it doesn't amplify sounds from far away in any way.
