Updated: The fastest human powered bike world record is now at 82.8 mph by Sam Whittingham set in 2009, and 75.7 mph by Barbara Buatois set in 2010. In 2011, a college team from TU-Delft in the Netherlands became the 2nd fastest all-time with a rider, Sebastiaan Bowier reaching 80.5 mph.

    The only problem i have with these bike's is that they look really stupid. I mean how exactly are you supposed to look cool driving that down the street. couldn't they implement the same technology but make it look more like a motorcycle?

    They're not built for vanity which is relative to each persons perspective, it's subjective. They are built for speed, which is objective.  Science and the physical world do not care about looks.

    It would make sense to do the run at the hottest time of day. The warmer the air, the less dense it is, and the less air resistance.
