A short film of my 15mm scale (1:20) model of the Irish Great Northern Railway diesel railcar 'A'. This was a very early diesel vehicle built by the GNR(I) in 1932 using an AEC 130bhp engine. It was later fitted with a Gardner engine and the radiator mounted on the roof - my model has the earlier AEC bus type radiator. This railcar survived until the 1960's, although latterly painted in the drab green livery of the Ulster Transport Authority.
The model is running in my garden on a short length of 79mm track to represent the 5ft 3inch Irish standard gauge. It is fitted with a Timpdon Electronics autoshuttle unit operated by track side magnets.

  • Fantastic work there,I love it.

  • Many Thanks Eamonn - I plan to build a C class in weathered silver livery for my next broad gauge project but I can't find any drawings - I don't suppose you know of any?

  • Cheers Eamonn - I'll give them a try.
