The story of the relationship between Sigmund Freud and his American nephew, Edward Bernays. Bernays invented the public relations profession in the 1920s and was the first person to take Freud's ideas to manipulate the masses. He showed American corporations how they could make people want things they didn't need by systematically linking mass-produced goods to their unconscious desires.

Bernays was one of the main architects of the modern techniques of mass-consumer persuasion, using every trick in the book, from celebrity endorsement and outrageous PR stunts, to eroticising the motorcar.

His most notorious coup was breaking the taboo on women smoking by persuading them that cigarettes were a symbol of independence and freedom. But Bernays was convinced that this was more than just a way of selling consumer goods. It was a new political idea of how to control the masses. By satisfying the inner irrational desires that his uncle had identified, people could be made happy and thus docile.

It was the start of the all-consuming self which has come to dominate today's world.

Your comment is good,I agree with it =D,but you need to be realistic as well.The thing is,humans do not respond to peacefulness very well,and humans are not very good by nature...it will take a heck of allot of time to manage to change humanity has a whole,but you need to start by removing the BAD guys first.

I appreciate your reply but what you failed to consider is that if WE all did that (99%) your rebuttal would no longer be a consideration. The point was missed entirely and that is "if we want change.... then we must change" and not just a few here and there I am speaking about humanity. If we change then no army will ever be needed on either side but only those that are truly awake will understand what I just said.

The only way an item will show someones individuality is if the item was made by the person him/herself rather then by someone ells(kinda the thing behind the concept of art).

@TenderTrap86 OR...a more realistic version is the illusion of separation-it's 2 companies worked by the same people-the competition is just another way of brainwashing people-since eventually no matter who gets on top-it's easy to see that they just fed people with lots of lots of words and commercials.
