Do you think that the Catalina Maples favor 1 ply heads or 2 ply heads?

Hi - They play well with either style head. The 1-ply will give a brighter, more open tone but with less duraqbility. The 2-ply will give you a fatter sound with increased durability. Great if you are gigging a lot or hitting a little harder.

It's awsome kit,sounds great,looks great.I bought mine in tobacco sunburst fade ,really beutiful colors.I take it home,I opened the boxes and yeah...............there was rust on all of the metal parts on the kit(hoops,lugs,suspension and e.t.c.).I'm so dissapointed,I didn't expect it from Gretsch.Now second month I don't have any meaningful answer or solution from my local dealer,and I'm still looking at the rusty catalina.Sad,I've really loved this kit.

I won a Catalina Maple kit from my local drum shop about a month ago. It's a sweet sounding kit. :)

If I may, the Pearl Forum kit cannot compare to the Catalina Maple or the PDP X7. The Pearl Vision kit may be the one you meant to name. The Yamaha Stage Custom series is a very nice entry level kit too. This Gretsch kit sounds great.

Absolutely. this is a good kit 4 a beginner--in addition 2 this kit--u might also wanna try the Pearl Forum kit or the PDP X7 kits--they're top notch drumsets that anybody starting out would b more than glad 2 use

something about maple, i love it.... i have the ash series set which i could barely afford and it sounds really nice, but different than the maple, i want to get a maple set eventually but i don't want to sell my catalina ash set... im so greedy haha

can anyone help me with my snare? i have the same kit. i really cant tune my snare with these stock heads. :( how did you tune you snare there? please... :(
