LMS 6201 Princess Elizabeth hauled PMR Tours The Royal Scot from Crewe to Carlisle over Shap and returned later in the afternoon to Crewe via the same route. 6201 is first seen approaching Scorton and then after the water stop at Carnforth she is seen from Shap Wells on the long hard slog from Greenholme to the Summit at Shap ( I believe 6201 came to a stop at Tebay hence the slow climb ) . The return sees the Princess working well at Strickland Woods on her way back to Crewe.Sorry about the couple of times the camera went out of focus on the climb to Shap wells as I think the camera kept trying to focus on the trees in the foreground .

  • Beautiful quality footage, what camera do you use?

  • @BritishTrainVideos . Thank you for the kind comment, I use a JVC Everio HD 5 and a Canon Vixia HG21 for the going away shots . Regards Steve

  • excellent filming and great sound track. Thanks

  • @snowjohnb . Thanks John, pleased you enjoyed Lizzie working hard as ever on our rails. Steve

  • Superb Steve - I love the autumn light, it really is superb when we get it. Excellent choice of locations - I especially like the view of it approaching Scorton. Great to see Gordon Hodgson doing what he does best on the return also. Cheers, David.

  • @Linesider1 . Thank you David , I do like the location at Scorton just a shame the pylon is in the way as she gets near but I made the mistake of stopping the slow zoom back as it seems to make the pylon stand out more if you know what I mean . I had a feeling Gordon was driving when I saw her rushing towards me ! ... Regards Steve

  • An excellent film Steve. Apart from the M6 and the wires you could've been filming in the 1950's. Barry

  • I guess what I'm saying is be prepared for anything, schedule wise. Near the Summit of Beattock might have better lighting than the panoramic view.

  • Hey Steve, I don't know if 16:55 for Beattock is to late. The times for Saturdays run are provisional still. Knowing 6201 I would guess that she can run ahead of schedule possibly in the first section of the trip to Carlisle. I don't know if the break in Carlisle might end early if she is ahead of schedule, (best case scenerio). Sunday's return times are set in stone.

  • Hey Steve, Have you made your list of locations for next weekend? If not let me know. I have 2 lists with 4 locations each for the Northbound and Southbound runs.

    Mike

  • @TheStephengthompson I'm sending a Personal message on your National Preservation account with a list of locations for NOV 12 & 13

  • Steve, Sheer poetry in motion. Thanks for sharing. Regards, John
