From Bach's Prelude, Fugue and Allegro for lute or harpsichord BWV 998.
Tried for a less romanticized interpretation along with a quicker tempo than what seems to be the standard adagio for this piece.

At the end you can hear small plane accompaniment on the very last note, compliments of San Carlos Airport

  • I love Bach and I am very glad his music sounds so good on the acoustic. Fantastic playing!

  • Hi George, hope you are doing well. Yes, it's nice to play Bach. I don't usually care much for it on steel-string but with coated strings and the right picks it seems be a bit more presentable. Thanks

  • I practiced this prelude and fugue from one of Frederick Noads music books many moons ago and nearly pulled my hair out learning it on classical guitar, so to hear it played so well and on steel string is a delight . I really hope you you do the fugue also, as its such a stately and regal following piece...

    ***** stars

  • Hi tarkineWild, considering that the fugue is such a bear to play, I doubt that I'll get to it (I have a long list of pieces I want to /need to /should learn.) There are quite a few smaller more recognizable pieces from his cello suites, lute suites and violin sonatas I wouldnt mind revisiting. This prelude is a combination of what I remember of Segovia's transcription (have no idea where my copy is!!!) and Michael Lorimer's (to fill in the holes.) Thanks for listening

  • That was so sublime Jeffrey, I would have thought this piece would have been written for Harpsichord for the counterpoint, enjoyed your interpretation.

    Well done 5*****

  • Thanks Harry, I really like your version "Walking in the air"
