Railfanning at FLL airport station on 12/11/08. This is a one of a kind DMU train (diesel multiple unit). As the company that made this is basically insolvent, this will probably be the only example of this DMU train. This is train P624 northbound.

  • The DMU is ok, but I do have to say that all the Tri-Rail cab cars used in push-pull with the locomotives all USED to have a standard EMD bell on all of them, and ever since the DMU came around all of the air-bells on the cab cars have been replaced with the new digital bell heard here on the DMU.

  • Fortunately the company has been re-organized as U.S.Railcar based in Columbus, OH and is very much in business. Maybe this is what the train of the future will look like since it runs well on existing tracks without expensive electrification or dedicated right-of-way.

  • @snk9045 You really cant ''demo'' something forever

  • whats the closes tri rail station from Sunrise, Florida

  • I always wonder what happen to DMU's?

  • i seen that one everyday since i was here so far (really). what is the busiest tri rail station you know in Ft Luaderdale closest to sunny isles??

  • @RailcarEng It depends on quality, and Colorado Railcar's DMU's are not the kind of quality im interested in. Doesn't made they can't build something i do like. Infact there's a few cars i like very well from them. Including the ones that are used by Via Rail.

  • @RailfanDaniel Too bad that Colorado Railcar didn't have more support. Another example of not supporting domestic manufactures in favor of foreign suppliers. As a result, about 150 people lost their jobs.

  • @Spaceshotx7

They do accelerate faster. It is all dependent upon the "notch" setting that the engineer picks.

  • I thought DMUs accelerate faster? Or is it only european dmus?
