RF Code is an Austin, Texas company that provides products for tracking and managing data center equipment using radio frequency ID (RFID). In this video, Jonathan Luce of RF Code demonstrates how RFID tags can gather data on the location and status iof equipment, as well as the heat and humidity within the rack. The data can then be remotely displayed and analyzed. This demo was filmed at AFCOM Data Center World in Las Vegas on March 11, 2009.

1. Large data centers can have 1000's of racks and about 40 devices per rack. This solution helps you locate and track IT assets in large environments.
2. The tags operate at 433Mhz. The tags transmit and the readers receive.
3. The data transmitted by the tags is only license plate data; i.e. a unique tag ID. What that tag is associated to is held in the software and never transmitted wirelessly. Very secure and does not use WiFi so you don't have a security exposure.

Dude have you ever been in a large data center? If so, you wouldn't be asking the first or the second question.
