An upcoming decision by Adidas could mean the end of the line for a western New York company that makes NBA jerseys. If Adidas moves its operations to Thailand, then 100 jobs could be lost. (Nov. 25)

  • you's right, I hate always spending 80 dollars on jerseys.

  • yes, we should just pass laws that say it is ok to charge $1/hour like they have in Thailand. Or maybe that there should be no need to worry about safety. Lets see to make up for that amount of difference we would have to reduce taxes about 600% .....of course we will have to stop paying for our mili tary, police, firemen and roads.

  • Typically decisions concerning the manufacture of a product are driven by cost... obviously, Adidas can reduce their cost by purchasing from another vendor.

Perhaps Mr. Shumer could help this small manufacturing company lower their costs by cutting taxes or maybe relieving some other burden the government is placing on them that cuts their competitive advantage.

  • @dabom88 except for consumers like you will not be able to afford to buy the lower cost item since you will have no job.

  • @yaplonglong You don't know what you are talking about! The jerseys are MADE in the NY plant. This is not lowering the cost to the consumer it is making more money for adidas.

  • run them the fuck out of town

  • No, they'll still cost as much.

  • great, now I can afford to buy a NBA jersey about $ 20-40 instead of $100-200.

  • we're losing a lot more than jersey manufacturing because of the laws and regulations that are imposed on the productive people and businesses of our country by snake oil salesmen like this guy- but NYers buy it.

  • Besides, you aren't a jersey-maker, and they are the only ones losing their jobs here. Labor is just another commodity, a commodity in over-supply.
