This is bloody brilliant. I watched the American Idol version of this song and they completely killed it with their plastic way of singing songs, Billy lets the song flow, and everything isnt perfect, and thats what makes it brilliant

Well put. It's nice to just hear talent at its rawest. You don't get to hear that stuff anymore. They just let this song do its thing. American idol ruined this.

Love this version. like how they were on q

he's definitely singing in a different key or pitching it down. Not used to it, but it's still interesting.

The backup singer on the right is Pete Hewlett. 100%.

What a wonderful version!

@Mancunian6 Frank & George Simms, brothers I believe, session singers etc, worked with Bowie on Serious Moonlight Tour amongst other things
-
The little bit he does right before he counts off to start the song almost sounds like River of Dreams!

On the Innocent Man album, Billy sanf every part of this song. He's the fucking best!

following on from that, I know the one on the right (as you look at them) is George Simms as he also does the Bridge Tour in 1986 and there he introduces them, however the other one (in the blue jacket and ginger hair) looks nothing like Peter Hewlett who does the same song on the Bridge Tour - no gesticulations and different hair but could it be the same guy only a year and something later? Does anyone know for sure please?

Anyone know the name of the 2 backing/harmony singers on this and a couple of others? The ones on the top of the stage with Mark Rivera I mean - they do the What's Your Name bit at the start of this too. I'm not sure Billy introduces them the way he does the rest of the band earlier on in the show - although I may be wrong about that. :)
This is the best version of the song ever in my opinion. He was in such great voice this evening.

I agree, a very good version although he performed a better version on the russia shows in 87. I have only heard a short segment of it on a documentary where he jumps into the crowd while singing.
