Summer 2009 was one of the driest monsoons in recent memory. My cousin and I stayed there for a week before the pattern shifted on Friday August 21. One wave moved through SE Arizona in the Afternoon and the other through central-western Arizona. The second storm followed us from Phoenix to the California border with very heavy rain, strong winds, and continuous lightning. This video is shot with a Sony EX-1 at 24fps. You will notice a Rolling Shutter effect when lightning occurs; this is a feature on Sony CMOS Chips that causes this. Because of this; if you videotape anything like lightning or emergency lights, I would not recommend anything from Sony that has CMOS sensors.
