Did you see that person in the background who crossed when the bell was ringing and just stood on the track for a moment? What an idiot!

Thanks hank. From South Africa.

This is freaking awesome. I am literally in in Moscow, while my friend is serving in Pakistan.

Wish you had stood a little more to your left so that we could also enjoy the train.
But good message.
Yes, only place to legally be allowed on a railroad track is at a grade crossing while warning signals are not operating or train is not approaching un signaled crossings.

Thanks for clarifying legal status of location. I would have stood to the left more, but really didn't have a clue what I would capture. Bought the camera and tripod a week before and was just improvising. Got lucky with this one. Thanks again for commenting!

Greetings from Canada! I've done stupid things on railroads, but I need to know not to trespass, and actually respect that!

Greetings from America! Here's some info from the railroad:
Walking, riding, driving or being upon railroad tracks or the right-of-way is prohibited by state law except at streets and sidewalks. I received confirmation from Amtrak that this public sidewalk by a street crossing was not trespassing. The stupidity of my actions is another topic, but no disrespect was intended for the integrity of railroad safety.
