Here's a clip on idling performance on the RJL, dieselized, Norvel .06 with steady RPMs at just under 6K and very good transition to full. A lucky convergence of fits, numbers and tolerances has throttling working well despite the lack of an adjustable airbleed. Past experience, however, indicates that if the fuel formula is changed, the idle mixture will need to be adjusted.

  • What is the lowest possible idle? if you know. Also, how hot does the head get in comparison to nitro? Thanks

  • I've had Norvel .06 engines idling, on diesel, as low as 3K.

I'm afraid that head temps is not something that I've looked into. In any case, the Norvels seem to tolerate a pretty wide heat range. I've added massive heat sinks and also turned off much of the fin area on a stock engine with not any discernible difference in performance.

  • That's 16K plus. Yes, far more powerful than any Cox I've ever owned.
