A close up shot of the King George track switch, a swingnose switch. Its interesting that this kind of switch bends the rail into place, makes me wonder how long it will last before metal fatigue takes hold and it needs to be replaced.

The rest of the video also shows a Mark 2 1400 series train switching rails and coming to a stop.

  • @tross265 - I think he means the closure rail, not the swing nose assembly.

  • Interesting! Thank you for showing us this.

  • The rail isn't 'bent' into place, its a vee shaped section of rail that swivels into place, eliminating the gap from normal frogs. Wear is actually considerably less than a fixed frog as the wheels are supported consistently on a swingnose.

  • Still its cool

  • When it started I thought the cameraman was standing on the tracks!! LOL

  • It just gets pushed into place.

  • does it really bend the metal? or does it just push it into place
