But how much of that is real dog and not the products and techniques you used on it? I don't think the breed standard includes volumizing shampoo and conditioner. In my opinion, the dog should be showed in as close to it's natural state as possible.

It is a real joy to watch a true artist at work grooming this Schnauzer. Yes the dog is awsome to start with, and yes the products are quite good as well (I haven't used them yet, but can see how well they work), but it takes super skill to make it all come together. Thank you for putting together a very informative video.

@cupofchar1 why you dont do a little bit more research about the professinal grooming procces in a show dog , maybe you could found that util instead of talk non-sense

lets make clear that dogshow quality are far from your tipical dog that you can groom just the way you want or you veterinary is the one who do that for you , show dogs are a totally diferent experience and goes from years of tradition in such nica sport

@yellowlevel I clipper my retired champions and do pet grooming but I do not leave a line and everything is blended perfectly just like the pattern on the mini you see here. You can tell your groomer to do the same. Hope this helps.
Nice video Pure Paws.

lol Definitely don't feel as epic as the music would have it seem when grooming schnauzers... nor do I have very many that sit so still.

he got all the hair in the wrong end. poor dog, I bet he hardly can see anything ... :S
I agree with Argox2007 is there any need for all that fluffing and whitening chalk? poor dog will end up wih a skin complaint.

Using chalk on the schnauzer's furnishings for show days is perfectly safe and will not irritate the dog's skin. The coat can become damaged if the chalk is not washed off. This is no different than when a person wears make-up. At the end of the show day the shnauzer's get the legs re-washed and dried. Chalks, sprays and gels are never left in the coat. To get beautiful furnishings on show dogs, up most care must be given to the skin and coat :-)

I have a schnauzer and my groomer always leaves a fade line, but I don't see one on yours and I like your cut better. Is the line supposed to be there? What is the difference between the two cuts? Thanks for the vid.

The schnauzer in this video is not cut - They actually hand strip the coat to create the look you see. Hand stirpping is very detailed work!!!! Hopefully soon we will be able to provide a video on how to hand strip the coats.
