Just wondering if any of you brilliant techy people out there can help me determine what's wrong with my imac??
When I press the power button it makes a faint squeeky noise thru the speakers & that's about it.

  • It's the PRAM battery. Sometimes if you leave the things on too long they will shut off because it died. Look on apple disscussions for the directions. Keep in mind: it is not broken!

  • Check inside you might need to get another one or replace the power supply or motherboard

  • i couldn't reinstall mac os or linux, it ejected automatically

  • @123RZ456 Then reinstall Mac OS as it cannot find the system.

  • my mac wasn't like that, my mac shows a stupid floppy disk with a flashing question mark.

  • I think that that's the end of that i mac. but you can buy another one on ebay for $50 plus shiping and move the harddrive from the old one to the new one. So you can still have all the files on the new one.

  • its eather the power supply or the power cord

i had a pc once and it turned on then turn off it was the power cord

  • @Chowder853 PowerPC Macs can run windows in emulation, not natively because windows (NT 3.51 i believe was the only version compiled for powerpc) was not built for powerpc processors.

  • Your Power supply might have died, or the logic board is fucked

  • my imac was made in 1999.
