The oud has its own tuning. This man is capable of playing the oud like an Andalusian guitar from the Ummayyad period of Arab hegemony over Spain. I have heard one recording before from the Oxfam Arabia CD, probably the one most beautiful piece of "guitar" music I have ever heard. "Min Ashur Ila Ishbiliya". Listen to that before you die. Thank you Naseer for your utter brilliance.

@skalatka Do you mean that the tuning he's using is E# , B# C# F# B# E#? I think Naseer shamma is the only one who use this tuning , am I right ?

@PsychosisGnome not a lot thousands of years...the music revolution of this kind of music was about 1500 years before in Byzantium.before Byzantium the musics of all civilizations was very simple melodies.

but his oud is half tone less than normal ,, means F is actually E .
