August 26, 1988 http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.... Watch the full interview: http://thefilmarchived.blogspot.com/2010/09/ron-paul-on-running-for-us-presid...

In 1984, Ron Paul chose to run for the U.S. Senate instead of re-election to the House, but lost the Republican primary to Phil Gramm.

He returned to full-time medical practice and was succeeded by former state representative Tom DeLay. In his House farewell address, Paul said, "Special interests have replaced the concern that the Founders had for general welfare. Vote trading is seen as good politics. The errand-boy mentality is ordinary, the defender of liberty is seen as bizarre. It's difficult for one who loves true liberty and utterly detests the power of the state to come to Washington for a period of time and not leave a true cynic."

  • This is solid gold and proof of Congressman Paul's sincerity and honesty.

  • @esigus These are the people with right to life , support our troops , and God bless America ribbons on their cars. Right to life till you are old enough to go to war and kill or be killed for the rich, support war through our military, and God only works for America. The media and the powers that be have created an ignorant society of brainwashed sheeple. God help us all.

  • Corporations are made up of people, just as governments, political parties and religious institutions. The capitalist argument that free markets eliminate corporations and monopoly power is faulty. Competition is based on the desire for complete control--monopoly. Herman Edwards said it best: "You play to win the game. You don't play to just play it." Businesses compete to corner a market and create a monopoly. A monopoly is an instant money maker--that is how Bill Gates became a billionaire.

  • @g777enn they are unconstitutional because if you read the text in there it is, however he has always said that he will protect the people on those programs he proposed a bill that would only let the money paid into SS go to SS not like what happens now it goes wherever they want it He doesnt want to kick those people off it right now he wants to work on getting prices to a place where more people can afford everything and real capitalism helps if president he wouldnt hurt anyone on the programs

  • @g777enn the govt and the corporations are working together the govt protects the corps through these so called regualtions which only hurt their smaller competitors or corrupt deals. he has stood up to corporate interest his entire 30 plus career bailouts corporate welfare etc. a real free market would stop corporations from gaining to much power because everyone has equal rights noone can just break the law and get away with it. and as for social programs he has always said technically

  • @perdondaris a true free makret stops corporations from gaining to much power, and it can prevent or break down monopolies, the only true monopoly can only occur because a govt creates it, in a more libertarianish (if you will) world everyone would have the same rights corporations could not scam anyone or harm anyone or their property, the system we have now is corporatism where the govt and the corporations work together that is tyranny. the corps are protected by the govt that shouldnt happen

  • RP leaves money control in private hands, not public. Gold standard = corporate standard because those who own the gold rule. No plan for public bank. No jobs plan. Belief in manipulated free market system means corps rule. No plans to reign in corporations, to get the $24T (Dylan Ratigan) back stolen by banksters. Voted no on min wage, extending unemployment. Intends to eliminate SS, Medicare, Medicaid. No plan to stop Corps moving jobs overseas....

  • We cannot continue to take from Colonel Sanders. We cannot continue to take from Thomas Edison and spread this Government Leadership System world wide. We cannot continue to try to invade and take land. We cannot continue to spread cement, building & automobiles without good reason. We cannot continue to make guns and military weapons. We need to eliminate any type of deadly weapon (even swords whether it sounds fake or not), from legality to being illegal. Native people were living in peace.

  • Corporate power is unhindered capitalism. Libertarianism, when you pull of the masks of sweet little old men like Ron Paul, is but an excuse for tyranny, a more efficient tyranny than the USSR, but tyranny nonetheless. The social eugenics of Nazi Germany and American right wing libertarianism have a common father: Herbert Spencer (who coined the term "survival of the fittest" not Darwin). Instead of "survival of the fittest" right wingers today now say the "free markets".

  • Who's the single idiot who voted this Truth down? Must be on the take.

  • It does not matter what happens at the end, as long as there is a way to disseminate this information, which is infinitely more important than anything they teach in colleges these days.
