Hellenismos is the name of the Greek Religion. "Hellenism is a package consisting Ethos, World View, value system" (Vlassis Rassias), language, customs, philosophy, community, and Religion. Hellenism is something that is called "Ethnismos/Ethnicum" (sadly, most people would call it just "Paganism"). "Hellenism is a way of human functioning at the collective and personal level." (Rassias). The Hellenic Religion (Hellenismos) is only one (!) part of the Hellenic Ethnismos. The Ancient Greek Culture was a product of the Hellenic Ethnos, and the same applies to the Hellenic Religion, therefore the Hellenic Polytheists or the people that generally follow Hellenism, are called since late antiquity and they still call themselves as "Ethnic Hellenes", because, and in contrast to the christian Greeks, they follow the ethnic and genuine hellenic Tradition, the Religion and Worldview created by the Ancient Greeks. The identity of the ethnic Hellenes is culturally, ethnically and religiously. Most people in Greece know the Greek Polytheists as Dodekatheists and Ethnikoi. Someone is called "Ethnicus" (lat.) or "Ethnikos" (gr.) (pl. Ethnikoi) when he follows the genuine and indigenous Ways of his Ancestors. "Hellenic Polytheism" or "Hellenic Religion" is not an umbrella Term. The many terms Hellenic Polytheism, Hellenic/Greek Religion, Hellenic/Greek Polytheism, Hellenismos, Dodekatheism, and ethnic hellenic Religion are synonymous and they are all used interchangeably to refer to the one and the same (!) religion. The term "Reconstructionism" (unknown to the most Hellenes in Greece) refers the methodology of reviving ancient ethnic Religions. The hellenic Organizations YSEE, Labrys, Thyrsos, and the Elliniki Etairia Archaiofilon (hellenic groups in Greece) hold the vast majority of practitioners of the Hellenic Religion in the world. The Hellenic Religion/Hellenismos has nothing to do with the so-called "Neo-hellenic Polytheism" and with "Neopaganism" in general.

Meaning of the Term "Ethnicum/Ethnicism":
1) The religions of the Gentile nations of antiquity; the common characteristics of these as contrasted with Hebraism and Christianity.
2) Heathenism; paganism; idolatry.
3) (in the senses: heathen, Gentile): from Late Latin ethnicus, from Greek ethnikos.

(Should not be confused with the irrational modern creation called "Nationalism"; an anti-ethnic ideology, which is opposed and contrary to Ethnicism and, the natural ancient Ethnopluralism. Hellenism is an Ethnicism and Hellenismos is an ethnic Religion ergo against Nationalism and Absolutism. Hellenismos also states, that it is the duty of all mentally healthy Humans to fight for natural Ethnopluralism and against all Systems, trying to abolish the ethnicities, their pluralism, diversity and Ethnicims, among other things for the sake of homogenization (Monotheism, New Age, some forms of "Neopaganism", Nationalism).

They used this to label all those remaining loyal to their Ethnic Traditions, to imply that they were uneducated and uncouth villagers. The term was used for centuries in most European languages to refer to the Ethnikoi. In the 20th Century, it was reintroduced with the suffix neo (viz. Neopaganism), by various Christian-inspired devotees of Esotericism and the New Age. 'Neopaganism' doesn't concern us."
