Oh the places you'll go book read by Jillian, a ten-year old girl dying of cancer. This was a story that she and I (her mom) shared and loved and she secretly read it to me on tape as her parting gift of hope. She died less than a month later. Jill truly believed in living each day to its fullest and treating everyone with dignity and respect. She was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (rhabdomyosarcoma) at the age of seven and endured three years of treatment, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia including radiation, chemotherapy, surgeries--including having her arm amputated-- and a bone marrow transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City. She died four months shy of her 11th birthday and we miss her everyday. She is survived by her mother Lisa, her brother Evan and her father Loren.
Dear Jill's family,
I'm sorry for your loss of your beautiful little girl, she's so sweet...

Dear Lisa,
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I'd like to use this in my medical anthropology class. I've worked for many years with children and adults with chronic and terminal illnesses and try to convey to my students what I've learned in the process about living. Much is lost in the translation. I think that Jill can teach them directly.
With much love and gratitude,
Rob
