@billyandtherockets Your body isn't used to blowing with force for a very long time. You should try to look up breathing excersizes and practice your breathing, after practicing for a few weeks you will notice you can withstand a lot more than you could before. I was like that last year in my beginner band class. My band teacher taught us with balloons.

Thank you SO much! You are the first instructor I heard say "think oooo" to seal the sides. I have had air escaping from the sides of my mouth, which makes me run out of air on whole notes or long phrases.

Don't raise your shoulders when breathing in. It creates tension around the neck.
