Sammy Hagar disliked this video. Haha! Kidding.

van halen influenced every single hard rock and heavy metal band from judas priest, ozzy through to cinderella & motley crew -This shit was as heavy as it got(late 70,s) priest were evolving, sabbath were self destructing--whatever you think of VH now, they changed the landscape for hardrock and contributed to the classic age of heavy metal through the 80,s.

Wish i was alive back then, best version ive ever seen!

I saw em in 1978 !!!! 3 times in Texas baby they put Black Sabbath to shame.
Was Van Halen David Lee Roth !!! You couldnt have Van Halen w/out the flamboyant Diamond Dave up front. Thats what they couldn't understand. When Dave is not out there its like a master painting with a hole in the middle. Their curse really, because you can never really replace him.

@Kickstart25 And Sabbath did. When VH supported them in the UK for Sabbath's 10th anniversary tour, every night they blew Sabbath off stage. I met a guy who attended the London gig then and he mentioned so many people were there just to see VH scream! After their set, several people left leaving Sabbath in a rather embarrassing state...thank God VH never signed to Gene Simmons.

You don't see much footage of Frankie when it was black & white

if this was 1978, did van halen influence the later 'hair metal' bands?

I was there & it ROCKED!

In 2011 I still can't believe the shit I'm seeing... Imagine what it must have been like in 1978 !!!

God what I would give to see something like this! The comments posted here are spot on!!
The combined sound of Dave's screaming and Ed's guitar must have caused the headlining act to have a nervous breakdown. LOL

Sick guitar tone & raw energy at its finest here.
