At the same time I think that's what sucked me into Passion Pit, or this album at least. Everything is so sunny and layered in pop and stuff, but the lyrics are actually kind of thought-provoking and depressing.

That kind of made me think--most people DON'T love themselves, not completely. Maybe we need other people to fill that void.

It's especially easy to see with young adolescents. they often are overly sweet to each other for the sole purpose of getting that back. I don't say all people have this. But most of the time, yes. We all have voids that need be filled.

It just depends on your inner definition of what "greed" is. I think what you're saying is exactly what Passion Pit was trying to convey. Love is just greed...if you really love yourself, how could you love somebody else" -- basically, if you do love someone and feel like you need them in your life, you may not love yourself a great deal since you need someone to complete you, hence making the love "greedy" Hope that made sense

Great point. And I think that was the point that Passion Pit was trying to make. They're basically saying if you do really love someone, you probably don't love yourself enough. Maybe that's not such a bad thing? I don't know

In essence of what you're saying, we love them because they make us feel good about ourselves or have an inner peace (a filled void)? Would this not make our love for them completely selfish, because we only love and relate to them for filling up our voids? I don't think I worded that completely write but very interesting topic XD, yet I agree with you. Some people would just argue it like that.
